SAFETY
TALK!
Friday March
14, 2008
The
warmer weather (hopefully) and longer days (in
the evening) are here. This
means that you will now see more people out and
around at night. You will
find people outside walking or running and you
will find more kids out playing. In
general there will be more “activity” for you to
be aware of as you are driving in this warmer
weather.
The key, as always will be to be aware of
your surroundings when you are driving around
these areas. These
areas include busy commercial roads, like
82nd or 86th streets in
Indianapolis, or housing jobsites, where there
could be more kids or dogs running around.
It is
always to be aware of your surroundings. When the
seasons change, the conditions of your
surroundings change also. Be aware
of this as you are driving in this warmer
weather.
Also, always remember to buckle your
seatbelt.

Prompt Claims
Reporting
When an accident does happen, it is
important to call Great West’s 24-hour claims
reporting line. This
sets up the process and allows the initial
investigation and intervention to reduce claims
costs.
When claims are reported late, it hinders
the adjuster’s ability to investigate the claim
properly.
Early reporting of a claim can lay the
foundation for quick management of the
claim.
It is important for adjusters to get
“evidence” while the memories are still
fresh.
The longer it takes to get this
information from witnesses, the more likely it
is that the memory of the incident fades. Report
all claims immediately to Great West at
1-800-228-8040.
Safety happens when you are aware and
prepared for situations. Be
prepared by always having the seatbelt buckled
while driving. It is
the law.
